Motorised trailer matching Mercedes 42043

This is a motorised trailer to match Mercedes Arcos truck (set 42043). The trailer matches the rear of the standard truck chassis build but is modified into a trailer with an articulated coupling and extension to front of the standard tipper. Uses L-motor. There are two LXF files. The linked one has all custom buoild for chassis, coupling and tipper extension. The second one on my Brickshelf site shows how to join the custom build chassis to the standard build portion of the chassis. Pneumatic hoses in the pictures are for show only and could not get them into LDD.

See the comments 'tab right above the top of the comments section?  next to that there is one for (left to right) Inventory, Buy Parts, and Building instructions.  Click the latter.  There will be a small box which says "View building instructions"

It is on my Brickshelf site at You can see my other content on Brickshelf by clicking on More Details link in the panel on the right of this Rebrickable screen.

Can you help how to motorise 42043 also?
    • 2 years, 12 months ago kevstechnic Level 10 Designed this MOC
The standard 42043 model has motorised functions but not driving and steering with remote control.  I have not done a mod for driving and steering but MOC-6228 by Muuss is a motorised version of the 42043 B-model truck which might be close to what you are looking for.
  • This weekend I created, together with my sister, the entire part list for this MOC.
    bricklink XML format.

Just submitted it as Change Request (hopefully that'll work)...

Now I only have to buy the 42043 and the parts for this MOC, and I can start building   :-)

Thanks so much for helping out with that. Hope you enjoy the build.

Turned out, I couldn't upload the parts list.
Also, it turns out it's not complete yet (not sure whether we made a mistake listing the parts from the original building instructions, or the list you provided with your MOC is imcomplete).
My sister is currently building the model, so I'm waiting for her to finish to see which components are still missing.

When I provide you with the Bricklink XML, can you make it into a parts list for Rebrickable?

I'd be happy to use what you provide to make a parts list. Thanks again for the help.

Hello Kevstechnic, congratulations for this great trailer ! Good job.

I have understood that your instructions are to build the additionnal part to the partial standard set. So I guess that the building list on rebrickable is only for this list (only the additionnal part).

My question : how do we get the building list of the standard set to stard bulding the trailer (and then had your additionnal part) ?

Do you we have to buy another 42 043 set (one set for the truck and another one for the trailer + your MOC additionnal parts) ? or is there a building list somewhere which is cheaper that buying a new lego set ?

    Thank you for your help.

The build instructions provided only refer to the parts used in the custom built part of the trailer. The other pieces used for the trailer are those shown in required sections of the standard build instructions as described in my comments above. Unfortunately I have not prepared a list of all the parts just for the trailer (sorry), but it would be significantly less than the parts in a whole 42043 set.

My best suggestion at present is to add the parts used in the applicable standard build sections to the LDD model provided for the custom sections of the trailer to produce a complete list of all parts for the trailer alone.

I have not checked pricing for the trailer parts but my experience is that if you were to buy all the parts for trailer it could possibly come to more than the price of a 42043 set.

I can see that it would be useful to provide a full list of parts for the whole trailer and will try to do this sometime in the future as an update for this MOC. Thanks for viewing the model and I am glad you like it.

So I'm sorry for sounding a bit thick about all this but did you manage to put a parts list together for the trailer?
        • 3 years, 11 months ago kevstechnic Level 10 Designed this MOC
My apologies but I have not gotten around to producing a full parts list for the trailer that combines the standard and custom built sections together. Not enough spare time! The required parts can be identified from the applicable sections of the 42043 instructions (above comments identify those sections) plus the custom build portion which is what the parts list below covers. But you probably already know this. Sorry I am not being more useful.

This is nice. I want it. Is it possible to buy it? Or buy manual and part lost?

Download the instructions for Lego set 42043 from the global Lego web site. To build the rear axles and tipper, follow these instructions from page 157 to 219 but delete steps 6-10 on pages 167-168. Then continue standard build with pages 242-246, 250-254 and 428-470. The LXF file link above shows the custom build portions for the trailer and the other LXF file on my Brickshelf home page shows how to connect the standard build part with the custom build part. Thanks for looking at the model. Let me know if you need any additional help.

Cus. Podarilo se ti to sestavit? Mas manual ci tak?
      • 4 years, 1 month ago kevstechnic Level 10 Designed this MOC
The instructions are free. Just click on the above link for Get MOC Building Instructions. Also my comments below provide some extra information about which sections of the standard 42043 instructions to use together with the LXF file and pictures I have provided to build the trailer. If you have any problems just ask me and I will help.

    Great add.
    Pitty, building instructions incomplete.
    • 4 years, 4 months ago kevstechnic Level 10 Designed this MOC
The lxf file that is linked to has all the custom build sections. The rest is partial standard build from the set. The other lxf file on brick shelf shows how to connect standard and custom chunks together. However probably kind of hard to figure out exactly how far to go with standard build. I will write up some further details to help with that. Sorry for not providing quite enough info. Thanks for checking out the model.
