This model of a 1967 Ford GT40 MK I is published in cooperation with James Tillson who has designed the MOC and I have created the 3D-model, the step by step instructions and the digital renders.

The Ford GT40 MK I was designed and built in Great Britain and enhanced by Shelby American in the USA. The Ford GT40 was first and foremost built to win long distance sports car races, in particular the Le Mans 24 Hour race against Ferrari. It was very successful in many different long distance races but failed the first attempts in Le Mans 1964-65 to later on win four consecutive years in 1966-69 of which places 1-2-3 was claimed in 1966.

The livery of this model was inspired by the number 17 GT40 that finished 2nd in class at the 1967 Sebring 12 Hour race. However, it has been designed to allow the builder to change the colour of the stripe or build the model completely in white. To facilitate a color change prior assembly, a Stud.io 2.0 file with the shell of the car is available for download together with the instructions.

The ones of you that own set 42096 Porsche 911 RSR already have 57% of the parts, if you own two then you have 69% of the parts. If you in addition own set 42056-1 Porsche 911 GT3 RS then you have 81% of the parts.
