This 42096 B model has the correct proportions of a 2019 Formula 1 car according to the official FIA 2019 F1 regulations in terms of total width, bodywork width, bodywork height, rear wing height, front wing overhang and rear wing overhang in scale 1:9.444. The scale is based on the diameter of the tires. The wheel base corresponds to the Mercedes F1 W10 car which is a whopping 49 studs!

Instructions

The professional building instructions consisting of 330 steps in 204 pages are created with Bricklink Stud.io 2.0, here is an example of how the instructions look like:



I have spent a couple of 100's of hours on the design of the model and an additional +100 hours in creating the instructions. Hence, if you purchase the instructions I kindly request you not to share them. The set price is low so anybody that would like to build this model can afford to buy the instructions. Thank you.

Bonus model

This model is designed solely with bricks available in the 42096-1 Porsche 911 RSR set but is prepared to be easily motorized. Additional bonus instructions for motorization consisting of 31 steps in 31 pages are included at the end of the instructions document.
The motorized model weight is 1.33 kg (2.9 lb) and is geared up 3:1 so it is quite fast! The following additional parts are required for the motorization:




  1. Two  36 tooth gears
  2. 2 XL motors
  3. 1 servo motor
  4. 2 IR receivers
  5. 1 battery box
  6. 1 remote control

Bonus model functions

  • Remote forward and reverse propulsion

  • Working high RPM fake engine



The motorized model is designed so it is very simple to exchange the batteries without having to disassemble the car as seen on this video.





Inventory
The inventory includes all parts required regardless of which version you build (with exception of the motorization list above). This means that you will have parts over when building any of the two versions which is nothing to worry about.

    Just finished this moc. Literally bought the Porsche RSR for just this.  I am absolutely happy with this moc I love it.
    Like most people are saying the nose is a bit tricky but not impossible.

    Fun build, my only critique is how fragile the front is, (I broke the model trying to hang it) aside from that, a much nicer looking model on my wall.

      I know that the nose comes off quite easily and my idea around that was to be able to replace the nose easily as in real life but then it is a pretty tricky task to put the nose back on... I will need to look into a re-design of this part. Any ideas are very welcome!

    Great build, attaching the nose is tricky. I have some comments for the instructions:
    * Step 25: It is easy to forget the second black pin (needed in step 293!
    * Step 218: The black/white/black bars must be turned 180 degrees to have two holes on the outside. Not so clear. Maybe make mini step 1+2+3 so it is oriented properly?
    * Step 300: I am missing black pins (or glue) to make the red liftarm 3 attach!
    Idea: Could the antenna (step 306-309) be replaced by eg. a grey axle to provide hand-of-god steering?
    Otherwise a really nice build! Good job!

    Very cool! But I think a gearbox would make it much better. Of cause then it were no alternate build any more, but isn´t a modification not good enough?

      Thanks for the suggestion! However, I wanted to make this one as a "true" B model and there are not enough bricks in the 42096 set to add a gearbox.

      But stay tuned and I will return with another B-model for another set and that one will include a gearbox!

    great MOC - used SBrick instead of IR and that works fine too!
    Would be interesting to see it powered with BuWizz... don't have one on hand at the moment..
