EDIT MODE

As previously announced, I have spent most of the last year on completely rebuilding Rebrickable from scratch. I am now opening up the testing site for access to everyone, please take a look around and try it out!

beta.rebrickable.com

This has been an enormous undertaking, and as such there are guaranteed to be some bugs! I've done my best to make sure everything works perfectly, but I need your help to finish it! Specifically, I need your help to identify problems such as:

  • Conversion issues - please make sure your data in v3 is correct!
  • Bugs
  • Security issues
  • Browser compatibility issues
  • Usability issues (including mobiles/tablets)
  • Features that are too hard/confusing to use
  • Slow performance
  • v2 features that are missing from v3

Or just things you don't like about v3 :)

This testing site is completely separate from the live Rebrickable site so any changes you make on v3 will not be seen in v2 and vice-versa. I may rebuild the v3 database at some point during this testing period to update it with the latest data or to fix any conversion issues - so don't be surprised if any changes you make in there disappear.

Please use the new forum for v3 Preview/Testing to submit your issues/questions (check if someone else has already posted it first). If you are submitting a bug please provide as much information as you can about what you did to trigger the error.

Some notes about the testing site:

  • you will not receive any emails from the site
  • Part/Set prices may take a few days to build up properly
  • integrations with external sites such as Brickset/BrickLink/BrickOwl are real - if you buy something, you really bought it :)

I hope to release the full v3 site in late January or early February, depending on what comes out of this testing.

Is the Beta site down? I'm new to the site and would love to help out in anyway possible.
    • Welcome to v3 live!  The best way to help is to use a Submit Change Request whenever you find something that needs fixing with a Set or Part.  Report any bugs in the Forum.

Does joining the preview break v2? Build seem to work in v3 but not in v2 any more.
    • 3 years, 1 month ago Nathan Level 28 Site Admin ADMIN
No, nothing in v2 has changed.

I found the issue somehow all types of builds where unchecked. I didn't do that but when I return them to the right state it worked.

Do we need a new login for the forum that is different to my rebrickable login?
    • 3 years, 1 month ago Nathan Level 28 Site Admin ADMIN
No, your Rebrickable login should work

        doesn't seem to be working

Ah sorry. I can't find your account in the forum, so I guess you've never used it before it was upgraded. In that case you need to register for an account in the forum.

Doesn't work for me either I had to reset my password twice now and every time I input it it claim it's wrong. So the only way for me to post on the forum is through the reset link.

What would be the best way of giving feedback, comments and suggestions?

    Remove "old" from

"Combine your old LEGO® to build new creations."

Most of my Lego might be old but it's not necessary true for all users.

"Combine your LEGO® parts to build new creations."

    is better imo.

Implementing badges is a great idea. It should encourage to activity at this site.

    Edit:

"Inventory Option" near every partlist ("inventory") is well designed too. A user can decide if the price of a brick is visible or not. The colour of a frame gently suggests if I have enough particular part or not enough or don't have this part.

Thanks :) The Build engine is more tightly integrated everywhere so can enable more useful features like that now.
  • Great! It's quite late here now, so I'm going to take a better look tomorrow. But, I saw you already implemented the LDCad .pbg export feature. That's great! Many thanks! :D

My first complaint: the site is very shallow. It should definitely be a little wider. Widescreen displays are the norm today and even on in a 4:3 aspect ration window it doesn't take up the fill width. It's very noticeable when looking at parts lists; they are much shallower and longer than on the old site (also because of that sidebar).

Also, being able to sort a parts lists is very nice. Maybe, if you're at it; a display-type option would be nice too. Like on Brickset: gallery (current type), large table (table with images) and compact table (table without images).

But, looks great so far! Thanks for all the hard work!

EDIT: also, paid plans? What's that going to be about?
    • 3 years, 1 month ago Nathan Level 28 Site Admin ADMIN
Let me know how the pbg files go. I'm not ready to discuss what paid plans are, just know that everything you can do now in v2 will still be free in v3.

My data is incorrect in v3. My rebrickable name is BrickbyBrick's technic Creations, but there it displays my older name, brickbybrick21. As well, it says I have 20 followers, but I have 21.

It's gonna take some time to get used to the new layout. But I like what I see.
Luckily there are also a lot of behind-the-scene updates for the admins.

As well as finding and fixing bugs, this preview is about giving people a chance to acclimatise. No-one likes change :)

Congratulations with the new design. It looks great... but indeed, there are some bugs! And I can't create an account in the forum for the beta, so I can't post/report the bugs... it seems like no confirmation e-mails are send?
Many features (when logged in private area) are marked with a lock symbol. Will these be paid only features in the future, as this seems unfair with the already free options in the currect v2 version of Rebrickable?
    Keep up the good job!
    • 3 years, 1 month ago Nathan Level 28 Site Admin ADMIN
If you've used the forum in the past, you should already have a login. Otherwise, it should be sending emails (check spam?), it's not part of the beta site.
The lock symbol just means the page is private and only you can see it. There are settings to make some pages public.

There are lots of options and different ways of doing things for what you are talking about. I'm completely open to changing how some things work, but comments like this don't help me at all. Please use the forum for any specific feedback.
      • 3 years, 1 month ago Mestari Level 13 MOC Designer
I will try to give more specific feedback on the forum when I have time. I feel the same way as LXF regarding the new parts list. It's unusable for me the way it is now.
